DBR is the share of your monthly income that goes to debt payments. In the UAE it cannot go above 50 percent, including your new mortgage.
Formula: DBR = (existing monthly debt payments + new mortgage payment) ÷ gross monthly income × 100
What banks count:
- Personal, car and other loan instalments
- About 5% of each credit card limit, even unused cards (some banks also count about 2% of overdraft limits)
- The new mortgage payment, at the bank's stress rate
What they don't count: rent, school fees and utilities.
